This week in reading we will cover the book "Whose Garden Is It? This book is written by Mary Ann Hoberman and illustrated by Jane Dyer. Our students will cover the lives of various animals that live in a garden together. Unfortunately, there is only one problem among these neighboring animals. The problem is......... Who does the garden belong to? Students will listen to varying points of view from those living in the garden and decide who they think the rightful owner of the garden actually is. The students will have to describe and give reasons as to why they believe the rightful owner is of the garden!

Weekly Reading Story Information Nov. 28th -Dec. 2nd

This week we will be reading " A Bed for Winter" by Karen Wallace. In this story the children will hear and learn about a dormouse looking for a bed suitable for winter. She visits various other animal friends and tries their homes out to see if they would make a suitable home for the winter that is warm and protects her from the elements. She visits a meadow, hive, stump, cave, den, burrow, and finally a tree trunk that she decides is just perfect for her home. The students will compare and contrast various animal homes while helping her decide which home is best for her along her journey.

Weekly Reading Story Information Nov.14th-18th
This week we will read the story "Bear Snores On" by Karma Wilson. In this story, one by one, a whole host of different animals and birds find their way out of the cold and into Bear's cave to warm up. But even after the tea has been brewed and the corn has been popped, Bear just snores on! When he finally wakes up, he discovers he has made a whole lot of new friends, but he believes they have been having fun without him while he was too busy hibernating. Weekly Reading Story Information for November 7th- 11th
This week wwe will focus on the story "Animal Babies in Grasslands" by Jennifer Schofield. The students will be introduced to six different young animals and their mothers. We will learn about what life is like for the elephants, prairie dogs, zebras, kangaroos, giraffes, and lions that live in the grasslands.
Our Target Skill this week is identifying the Main Idea of a story, or, in other words, why it is written. We will be working to identify, form, and match the letter "Pp" to its sound--/p/.

Weekly Reading Story Information Oct. 31st-Nov. 5th
In this book, we will read about an armadillo who marks his home with an orange. One day a sudden wind blows this orange away and Armadillo is lost without his homemarker. He must then rely on his neighborhood animal friends to help him find his way back home. Our target skill this week is reviewing setting. We will be working together to identify, form (handwrite), and match the letter "Ss" to its sound---/p/.
