Weekly Reading Story Information for Oct.17th-21st

 This week we will be reading "Dig Dig Digging" by Margaret Mayo and Alex Ayliffe.  This book will introduce us to a variety of construction equipment and the funny sounds they make along with the actions/jobs they preform .
     Our Target Skill this week will be classifying and categorizing. We will also continue to practice identifying the setting in a story, and identify the jobs that an author and illustrator preform to develop the books that we read.  We will be working to identify, form (handwrite), and match the letter "Tt" to it's sound/t/.

Amazing Vocabulary Words: scooping, swooshing, squelching, gobbling, spinning, and rumbling

Sight Words:  We will continue to work with "to" and "a" for another week.  Also, please continue to review the following words: I, am, the, little.

Weekly Reading Story Information for Oct.24th-28th

This week we will be reading the story "Life in an Ocean" by Carol K. Lindeen.  In this book, we will explore life in an ocean environment. We will also discuss the animals that call the ocean their home or habitat.
     Our Target Skill this week will be comparing and contrasting.  We will be working to identify, form (handwrite), and match the letter "Aa" to its sound--/a/.  We will spend two weeks on the letter "Aa" this year.  We will also cover the reamining vowels of Ee, Ii, Oo, and Uu two weeks as well.  We do this to instruct and inform the students of both the long and short vowel sounds that each letter covers. 

Amazing Vocabulary Words:  ocean, world, crab, shell, fish, seaweed

Sight Words:  have, is  (Please continue to review "I", "am", "the", "little", "to", and "a".)
